In the world of WWW(World wide web) we often come across some exceptional statements which attracts users. Use of Social networking sites has seen tremendous growth in recent years. Trillion of peoples are connected to via social networking sites with such tremendous growth in technology some websites are leading people towards wrong paths by making false statements and posting false and irrelevant articles across internet which often attract our minds.

In recent years we came across some false statements which even caused real life danger to peoples

• A gunman shot gunfire rounds in USA in response to false claims of Child trafficking in pizza hut.
• “Treatment of cancer by use of Marijuana” by some sites.

Steps have been taken massively by organisations like Facebook and Google by incorporating feature of flagging on such Posts, Articles and websites by users and referring the flagged items to third party.

Observatory on Social media discovered tool Hoaxy to identify False claims

Indiana university observatory of social media discovered tool Hoaxy which identifies these false statements. Currently Hoaxy only works in social media platform. It accumulates data from users who posted data and users who spread data. The tool analyses data with reputed media platforms and thereby provides us with Analysis graph of Fake posts on social media platforms.

Menczer member of IU network science institute and project partner to Hoaxy says “If we want to prevent the spread of these fake news we need to understand the basic mechanism under them for which every major organisation in the world of Internet should come forward”.
